Photo Interpretation and Remote Sensing Module 1: Visual Interpretation
Hey friends! Welcome to my Photo Interpretation and Remote Sensing Journey.
In Photo Interpretation and Remote Sensing, Module 1 focused on some basic principles of interpreting features found on three different aeriel photographs. Module 1 consist of three exercises.
Part one consisted of identifying features based on tone and texture of aeriel photographs.
This map layout of my visual interpretation is from Exercise 1. The map illustrates the represetation of various tones and texture found in an aerial photograph. I based the tone from very dark, dark, medium, light, and very light according from the photograph which is highlighted in yellow. The texture ranged from very fine, fine, mottled, coarse, and very course and it is highlighted in light blue. This exercise helped me understand the basic foundation in tone and texture based from different areas.Exercise 2 consisted of identifying land features in an aerial photograph based on several visual attributes.
This practice helped me identify features based on association, pattern, shadows, and shapesize. For example, for shadows (highlighted in yellow), I chose shadows from the water tower, building, and lightpole. Although I had to zoom in super close to distinguish which ones were shadows because the photo were in black and white, I was able to find some.In exercise 3, I had to compare similar features in true color and false color infrared photographs. Comparing the two photographs (not shown here) was super interesting since the false color was the complete opposite as the true color.
